The sky's gray and there's mizzle. It's so soft on my skin--it's nothing like rain. It's even softer than the lightest drizzle! Lift my face up, so it can kiss my skin." The Panopticon

About This Quote

A panopticon is a prison with a central watchtower. The idea behind the Panopticon was to create a prison without bars. It was said that the Panopticon connected each prisoner with the guard in such an intimate way that both would become completely dependent on one another. This leads to the idea of the Panopticon letting in light and air, allowing them to see outside and breathe, and yet keep them trapped in this room all day long.

This quote serves as a contemplation of one's own prison and how it can be overcome. As someone said: "To think that Man is locked in chains, and cannot see the sky, or breathe fresh air, is a cruel thought indeed."
